Company
Early 1970s
D. Ángel Aguilera Poza, founder of Grupo Aguilera, began by installing security systems in homes and small businesses, which later expanded to factories and warehouses, incorporating CCTV surveillance and other control systems.
Two years later, in 1975, he took on responsibility for large and complex installations, including the UAE Headquarters in Abu Dhabi.
Late 1970s
In 1978, Aguilera Electrónica was founded, taking advantage of the first regulation requiring hotels to protect at least common areas with fire detection systems. During this period, the company was contracted to install systems in more than 25 hotels, including Meliá Castilla (Madrid), Meliá Costa del Sol, Meliá Don Pepe, Don Miguel (Marbella), Reconquista (Oviedo), among others.
The first control panel, the AE/H1000C, was manufactured, capable of identifying up to 1,000 points and coordinating evacuation in a phased, automatic and manual manner. Subsequently, the first ionisation detectors and addressable manual call points manufactured in Spain were developed.
Aguilera Electrónica’s consolidation as a strong company came during Seville EXPO ’92, where it was selected to supply and control fire detection systems, competing against multinational companies operating in Spain.
Growth
Since then, demand has grown at an annual rate of 18–20%. In 1992, Aguilera Extinción was created, a company equipped with the best resources for gas treatment systems.
In 2006, Grupo Aguilera acquired EIC (Estudios e Innovaciones Contra Incendios), a company dedicated to the development and manufacture of water mist systems.
Fire Test Rooms
The Grupo Aguilera has designed and built the fire test rooms at Aguilera Extinción, two unique facilities in Spain:
Test Room 1 (7 x 4 x 4 m)
Designed for permanent inerting system testing. It reduces oxygen levels by introducing nitrogen in a controlled manner down to concentrations between 17% and 13%. It is equipped with 3 oxygen sensors, a CO₂ sensor, a humidity sensor, a differential pressure sensor, a temperature sensor, and an algorithmic aspirating detection system.
Test Room 2 (10x6x4 m, normalizada)
Designed for testing the Microaqua water mist system in accordance with TS 14972 (July 2011). It is equipped with 3 temperature probes up to 1200 ºC, 2 oxygen sensors, 1 CO₂ sensor, a smoke extraction system, and a pipe network with diffusers.
Cylinder requalification
Aguilera Extinción carries out cylinder requalification work with a certificate of approval from the inspection service and periodic testing of transportable pressure equipment (ITC-EP 6, standards UNE-EN 1968 and UNE-EN 1803) for CO₂, fluorinated gases and inert gases.
The work includes: identification, discharge, external and internal visual inspections, weight control, thread inspection, pressure testing, drying, valve inspection, painting, refilling, and removal of rejected cylinders.
